Polka Legends Tribute at SNPJ Farm
12:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Grammy-winning accordionist Joey Miskulin appears at SNPJ FarmFest at SNPJ Farm in Kirtland, Ohio, for an all-star tribute to polka legends Frank Yankovic and Johnny Pecon with the Jeff Pecon Orchestra, Fred Kuhar, Brian O’Boyle and Bob Kravos and the Boys in the Band, Saturday, July 10, 2021. SNPJ FarmFest also salutes past Miss SNPJ pageant winners, iconic images of young Slovenian-American women since 1956.

Enjoy polka and waltz music by the Jeff Pecon Orchestra, playing for dancing from 1:00 to 5:00. Joey Miskulin joins in with lively polkas and smooth waltzes that are sure to please, along with Fred Kuhar and Brian O’Boyle. Joey and Fred are Polka Hall of Famers, as are Jeff and John Pecon, just like their late dad Johnny Pecon. Bob Kravos takes over on the bandstand, 5:00 to 9:00, with danceable selections in the spirit of his great uncle Frankie Yankovic, America’s Polka King, who was raised in Collinwood.

Joey Miskulin has shared the stage with stars, such as Johnny Cash, Paul McCartney and John Denver. You know him better as “Joey, the Cow-Polka King” from Nashville’s beloved cowboy combo Riders in the Sky. He got his start as a teen with the Yankovic band and today is Hollywood’s most sought-after squeezeboxer and an award-winning music producer for Disney and Pixar features, like “Cars” and “Toy Story 2.” For many years, Joey owned a polka nightclub in the North Collinwood neighborhood.

Meet past Miss SNPJs at 5:00 p.m. The Miss SNPJ Contest was first held 65 years ago by the Slovene National Benefit Society (SNPJ) to honor young women who best exemplified the fraternal spirit of the country’s largest Slovenian-American organization. The traditional Miss SNPJ calendar hung in kitchens and garages from coast to coast.

Indulge in down-home cooking with tasty choices like smoked Slovenian sausage pulled pork, and grandma’s oven-fried potatoes. Chef Dean prepares his famous mile-high “Full-o-Baloney” sandwiches on the grill.

SNPJ Farm is located at 10946 Heath Road in Kirtland, Ohio, off Chardon Road (Route 6), three miles east of Route 306 and six miles west of Route 44. Gates open at noon. Admission for the dance is $10, under 18 free. Hosted by the Cleveland Federation of SNPJ Lodges and the SNPJ Farm Board. Presented by Monreal Srnick Funerals and Cremations.
