Glenville Music Festival Celebrates Forty-First Year and Attracts a Crowd of All Ages--by Greater Collinwood Staff

Glenville Music Festival celebrated its forty-first year of bringing families together in the Glenville community with food, music, handmade crafts and play, Saturday August 10. The festival, situated at beautiful Sam Miller Park on E. 88th Street, boasted more than 70 craft and food and a spectacular firework show at the end of the night. The event attracted a diverse crowd of all ages thanks to its longstanding presence in the community and for Councilman Anthony Hairston’s stewardship. Parents, grandparents, children, friends and pets enjoyed live music, sticky ribs, po-boys, fresh fries, lemonade and more.

Councilman Hairston said, “We aimed for the 2019 Glenville Festival to be the biggest and best ever. I'm proud to say that, judging from the turnout and great responses we received from the community, we accomplished that feat. From Children's World to Senior Village, it was a true delight to see how many people not only came to the festival but stayed for hours as they took in the best of what Glenville has to offer.”

“Not only were patrons treated to a wide array of information, products, and giveaways from over 70 vendors, but our entertainment this year knocked it out of the park. All of this was capped off with great performance by Carlos Jones and the Plus Band giving way to our first annual fireworks display.”

The weather was perfect for the outdoor event: warm and sunny with a mild breeze and plenty of shade trees to keep things cool for those in attendance.

“It truly was symbolic of a great Saturday afternoon and evening,” the Councilman continued. “We can't wait to start planning 2020's festivities and are so truly thankful to the many staff, volunteers and members of the community that made this year's festival such a success.”
