What's Happening at the Collinwood Library

Cleveland Public Library’s Summer Reading Club 2013:  MAKE It a Great Summer! is now in full swing!

The program will run through August 2. Children can register at http://readingclub.cpl.org or by visiting their local branch.  They can also earn prizes and online achievement badges. Those who complete 10 books by August 2nd will receive a voucher for up to 4 tickets for the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo on Saturday, August 17th. In addition free lunches are available for students Monday-Friday from 11:30-12:30 through Friday, August 2.  

Make a Mess! --Tuesday, July 2 at 1:30 p.m. Get ready to get gooey! We're using kitchen-table chemistry to make slime and a hi-bounce ball out of everyday ingredients.

Mmmmm….. --Wednesday, July 3 at 1:30 p.m. Help create and enjoy a 4th of July dessert.  Yum!

Make Machines! Tuesday, July 9 at 1:30 p.m. Make your own crazy contraption. Your mission, if you choose to accept it is to create a machine that will launch or throw a pom-pom as far as possible.  Work alone or gather a group of friends to make bigger and better machines!

Make Something Up! --Tuesday, July 16 at 1:30 pm. What is going on?  Crazy things are happening everywhere! "Green Frog Whacks Rooster!" "Goat Found in Girls’ Bathroom!"  Calling all creative cub reporters! Help us sniff out the stories behind these crazy headlines. Tall tales and plenty of laughs are in store as you help report this week’s nutty news!

Special Event: Children ages 3-5 can receive up to 6 vouchers for the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. The vouchers are good for Saturday, July 13, 2013. This is made possible by the PNC Grow Up Great Foundation which supports financial awareness for children ages 3-5 to help them learn to spend, share and save their money.

Become a poet!--Saturday, JULY 6 from 1:00 P.M. - 3:00 P.M. Join us for a poetry workshop in collaboration with Cleveland State University Poetry Center and learn how to write poems of your own. Light refreshments will be served.
