The vision and mission of First Steps Learning Enrichment Center is to be a leader in the early childhood community as we enrich the lives of children in our community by providing the highest quality early childhood education and care.  Our program will promote and enhance the child’s development in all areas – physically, intellectually, socially, emotional, and creatively. We offer both full and part time programs designed to meet the special needs of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in a safe, nurturing, child-centered environment. Our goal is to strengthen the bridge between your work and family life by creating a special place that supports them both – and make each child’s first steps to learning enriched with fun!

Philosophy & Goal

Here at First Step Learning Enrichment Center we appreciate that early childhood is a unique and valuable stage of development in every one’s life. We strive to ensure high quality child care that will enrich the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual, and creative development of children, while responding to the needs of the family.  We believe that every child is unique and valuable, every child deserves to be loved and appreciated, and every child deserves to experience joy while learning.  We appreciate and support the unique and vital role that parents and primary caregivers have in the lives of their children. We value and celebrate the diversity found among children, their families, and the community around them. And we respect the values and personal beliefs that each family has which influence the children’s attitudes, behavior, and development. We feel a quality child care program provides developmentally appropriate learning opportunities for all children; and a setting that is as comfortable as home.  Activities are planned according to the developmental needs of the individual, the group as a whole, and the diversity represented in our center and community.  Our objective for those children enrolled in our program is to establish communication and collaboration between the children’s home and First Steps Learning Enrichment Center.

Curriculum

First Steps Learning Enrichment Center will use the FUNSHINE EXPRESS, a state and nationally approved curriculum on a daily basis which supports the children’s growth in all areas and aligns with the State of Ohio’s Early Learning Content Standards and Step Up to Quality guidelines.

Parents in the Collinwood area will no longer have to scramble to find quality day care!  Come meet the Owner, Ms. Brenda White-Barnett, the Center Administrator, Ms. Lori Way, and our staff. You will have an introduction to the learning adventure your child will experience, an overview of services, a guided tour, games and door prizes for the children.

We can’t wait to see everyone there. It will be an educational journey, filled with fun for everyone.
