Collinwood Arts and Health for Seniors Project

Shore Acres residents admiring painted rain barrels in the Shore Acres Community Garden.

In last month's Observer, Julia DiBaggio wrote about Collinwood 2015, an initiative blending arts and health activities to improve the health of our community.  Linda Zolten-Wood and Michel Hodges are leading one of the projects that is part of this initiative. They will be presenting a series of activities at the Paul Alandt Lakeshore Rose Center for Aging Well.

Linda and Michel are long time Collinwood residents who love their community.  Linda has volunteered for Waterloo Arts since the early years and has led workshops in rain barrel painting.  She is on staff at Hillcrest Family YMCA where she teaches senior craft classes and teaches acrylic painting at Lakeland Community College's Continuing Education.  See accompanying pictures of how beautiful a rain barrel can be!   Michel's neighborhood activities include volunteering at Euclid Beach monthly cleanups and singing in the choir at St. Jerome Church.  Her professional experience includes caring for seniors as a home health aide and as a registered nurse at University Hospital Case Medical Center.  Linda and Michel are very excited about combining their talents to make their community even better than it already is!
