Brand New Me Academy and CAMHP To Offer Workshops

Dear Collinwood,

We are excited to announce that The Center for Advanced Mental Health Practice and The Brand New Me Academy have formed a new partnership to provide workshops to educators in the local schools. It is our goal to provide child development training and support for the members of the Collinwood community. Beginning in October, we will offer monthly workshops at the Brand New Me Academy in an effort to teach key child development concepts to the community, facilitating learning for both educators and students.

These workshops are open and free to the community of Collinwood, Waterloo, and the surrounding area. We welcome individuals that are at all levels of their education in child development. We can all learn from one another as we share our own stories and through reading the theories of the many that have come before us.

The training offered through this partnership will be derived from the theories of Anna Freud, Melanie Klein, D. W. Winnicott and other child psychoanalysts. Psychoanalytic training has provided us with a unique way of understanding the world and we hope to continue to share this with other educators and practitioners. As the many psychoanalytic theories before us have done, we will focus on the importance of creativity in child development. Our aim is to provide creative responses to what is often understood as disruptive behavior. The core of our mission is a drive to support individuals, both educators and students, in finding a creative outlet for themselves.

We believe that this will benefit kids and adults and help create stronger bonds between them.

The monthly workshops will begin at the Brand New Me Academy, located at 944 E 152nd St.

We hope you will join us.
