156th Street is Getting a Face Lift

Have you noticed funky new art popping up on the street? That's because Ballot Box winner Michael Hudecek from Up Cycle Parts Shop with his Craft Up Collinwood project is creating art that residents made with reused plastic materials.

This not only beautifies vacant storefronts, it draws attention to people who are interested in renting. With the Collinwood Friends Garden on 156th Street and Corisca, they built pallet benches and painted designs on the sidewalk.

Michael has also put up temporary installations in vacant storefronts that not only beautify the street but draws attention to the spaces. Less than one month after covering a store with plastic scales, a property that had long been on the market was sold. We look forward to seeing how these efforts will continue to improve the district. Take a stroll down 156th and check out all the new sights.
