The Lowdown at Lakeshore Intergenerational School
WHERE WE’VE BEEN:
As Summer turned to Fall, we too got into a festive mood with our school events/activities. Our Primary Cluster students got to visit Patterson’s Fruit Farm. There, our students enjoyed a behind the scenes tour of the market and farm. Students also got to enjoy Patterson’s “Fun Fest” an interactive outdoor adventure that includes haystacks, treehouses, corn mazes, hikes and wagon rides through the fall foliage. Halloween brought some tricks and treats with our annual Halloween Costume Parade. An added bonus, our Primary Students were invited to Villa Angela Saint Joseph’s “Halloween on Campus” our students were paired up with high school students for a day of fun, games, and snacks!
Our Family Group held their annual Fall Dance, our students got to dance the night away with a special family member, friends and staff members. November also saw us begin a new Intergenerational Partnership with Bridge Arts, an adult learning center for individuals with learning disabilities. Our partnership with them will be all about learning and exploring commonalities between our students and theirs through the use of various art programs in Collinwood and Cleveland (or first visit was to the Cleveland Museum of Art for the Jazz Exhibit).
We look to close our 2017 with a flurry of activities, in addition to our monthly IG Visits. Beginning November 29th and including two more sessions in December one of our Primary Cluster classes will work with Lakeshore Rose Center to develop and perform an Intergenerational Play. On December 5th our school will host, Mr. Michael Estime, of Channel 3 News, for an informational afternoon all about Cleveland weather! Finally, before we all depart for Winter Break, our students and staff will have our annual Winter Celebration Learning on Friday, December 15th.
