We Made a Difference: Cleaning with Cops Recap
“The leaves are falling and the trash was calling.” Collinwood & Nottingham Villages Development Corp in partnership with St. Clair Superior Development Corp hosted “Cleaning with Cops” on Saturday October 28, 2017 at Five Pointe Community Center. Local residents, students, volunteers, and 5th District Lieut. Montanaro, Sergeant McCaulley and Officer Hampton worked together in teams to clean along E. 152nd Street. We even had volunteers come out from Cleveland Clinic to help us clean our neighborhood.
“This is a great opportunity to work with the residents in the community. “People get to see us in a new light” explains 5th District Sergeant McCaulley “My hope is, this clean-up teaches the participants of being mindful about loitering and how much cleaning your neighborhood can make a difference” says Kristian Hunter, AmeriCorps VISTA for Collinwood & Nottingham Villages Development Corp
Although it was a rainy day, we worked together and picked up over 25 bags of trash and recycle. At the end of the clean up, participants had lunch and some participants won prizes. Prizes winners received two tickets to a Cavs game, two tickets to a Browns game, movie gift cards, $25 Visa gift card, and candy baskets. The clean up was a success. We were determined to truly make a difference especially on National Make a Difference Day.
