GardenWalk Cleveland 2018 returns to North Collinwood

The 2018 GardenWalk Cleveland Tour will take place on July 7 and 8 from 10-5pm. It is a free, self guided tour of many private and community gardens in the City of Cleveland. North Collinwood  will once again be a featured neighborhood. The committee is in the process of considering a few changes to the format this year. At this point there will be four areas: West Park, Detroit Shoreway, North Collinwood, and Little Italy for the first time. It is possible that rather than two days for all four, each neighhood would be assigned one of the two days. This would allow all who volunteer their gardens a day to visit some of the others.

The mission of GardenWalk is to build community, beautify neighborhoods, and encourage civic pride. This once a year event is organized by volunteers from the city of Cleveland and surrounding communities. GardenWalk Cleveland is made possible due to the generous sponsorship of organizations and individuals committed to connecting people with each other and with nature in our beautiful neighborhoods. Visitors can tour at their own pace on foot or a bike and will get a unique opportunity to meet and learn from gardeners in a large variety of gardens and farms in our community. The focus continues to be on native plants that attract wildlife and pollinators and thrive under natural condition.

The response from both the visitors and the thirty generous gardeners last year was unanimously positive. All who participated are invited to return, and I welcome interested newcomers. It helps to have several gardens in “clusters,” or in close proximity, especially for visitors in cars. Please note this is not a “curated” tour, it is open to anyone willing to share, and even show off, your gardening efforts.
