Glasbena Matica Slovenian Singing Society presents, “With a Song in our Hearts…” on Sunday, September 29th, 2019.

Glasbena Matica is a Cleveland-based,  Slovenian American chorus dating back to 1930. Through the years, audiences have enjoyed full scale operas, some translated to Slovenian, as well as popular selections. Its singing tradition continues to date with a concert by our group, energized by our love for our Slovenian heritage. We invite everyone to enjoy a wonderful afternoon of Slovenian melodies and American classics. Families are especially welcome.

Selections range from choral favorites by Peter Lutkin, and Richard Rogers, Slovenian folk songs and a Slak polka, to musical arrangements by contemporary Slovenian musician Damijan Močnik, all bringing to life the love that we have for those who have blessed our lives.

The concert will be performed on Sunday, September 29th, 2019 at St. Mary’s Parish Hall, 15519 Holmes Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio. Doors will open at 2:00 P.M. Refreshments catered by Joe Tavcar, will be available for purchase at opening and after the performance. Music begins at 3:00 P.M. conducted by John Slike, accompanied by Michael Cercek, with accordion played by Anthony Culkar. After the concert, all are encouraged to enjoy fellowship, mingle, and dance to the music of The Culkar Trio.

Admission to the concert is $15.00 per adult, and free to those 18 and younger. Advanced tickets may be purchased through choral members. Tables and tickets may also be reserved by calling Machala Comenschek at (216)-421-4159. Tickets will also be available at the door the day of the concert.
