SJN Basketball Takes Second at Tournament

The SJN Jets took second place in the Bethany Lutheran 2019 Pre-Season Tournament, only falling to Redeemer at the last minute in a close 48-51 game that was the definition of what competitive basketball should be. We look forward to a strong season.

St. John Nottingham Lutheran School has a long and storied basketball program. Previously led by Bob Vollman, the program has returned to their winning ways of old by Coach Darnell DePriest. Under Coach DePriest, the SJN Jets have amassed a lengthy list of victories, both on and off the court.

In the past two seasons the SJN Jets have amassed 33 wins, appeared in two Cleveland Lutheran Elementary League finals, back to back, All-Ohio final four appearances and consecutive invitations to the LBAA National Tournament in Valparaiso, IN. In his fourth season Coach DePriest looks to continue the winning tradition and cement St. John as a basketball powerhouse in Northeast Ohio.

However the talent doesn’t end there. St. John Nottingham also boasts a girls team which has also had consecutive top four finishes in the CLEL as well as consecutive All-Ohio appearances. The 5th & 6th grade basketball program (which functions as an intensive training program for the upper grade teams) also looks to continue tradition, featuring a boy’s team that has only lost three games in three years! They look to put not only all of Ohio on notice regarding their success, but the entire country as well!
