Fat Cats Brings a Holiday Meal to Remember to Hospice Families

The culinary team at Fat Cats served a delicious holiday meal to residents and family members at David Simpson Hospice House.

Once each month, Meal to Remember brings a different Cleveland-area restaurant to Hospice of the Western Reserve’s in-patient care center, David Simpson Hospice House on E. 185th St. Residents of the hospice house and their families are treated to a restaurant dining experience, complete with fine china and linens, wine and live musical entertainment. All of the food, time and talent are donated by the restaurant. Photography, centerpieces and live musical entertainment for the dinners are provided by Hospice of the Western Reserve volunteers, who also assist the culinary teams with serving.

This month, Fat Cats owner/chef, Ricardo Sandoval, business partner Jack Anfang and the Meal to Remember team hosted a special holiday season Meal to Remember. The dinner was accompanied by perfect wine pairings chosen by Bridget Assing Marok and provided by Scoperta Importing.

“Fat Cats has returned several times to prepare and serve a Meal to Remember for our patients and families,” said Bill Finn, President and CEO. “We are incredibly grateful to Chef Sandoval and the Fat Cats culinary team for their generosity. There is no greater gift to give to these families than more time to spend with their loved ones. The simple act of gathering around the table together for conversation and a fine dining experience is an experience most of them have not had for months. It is so meaningful - especially during this holiday season.”

Fat Cats, one of the pioneering restaurants in Cleveland’s trendy Tremont neighborhood, has been described by one food writer as a “Modern American Melting Pot” with a menu that draws from a variety of influences, including Asian, European and North and South American cuisines. The restaurant was named to the Plain Dealer/Cleveland.com’s “Cool Places to Eat A-List” as one of the city’s best restaurants.
