St. Casimir’s Church welcomes you!

The changes in the Cleveland Diocese are leaving their mark on many neighborhoods. We are fortunate that the four churches in the North Collinwood cluster will remain to serve the faithful in the community. One church, however, is undergoing  some fundamental changes.
On Sunday, October 18, 2009, The Most Reverend  Richard Lennon, Bishop of Cleveland, officiated at the Closing Mass of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church at 18022 Neff Rd. The following Sunday, October 25, His Excellence also officiated at the Opening Mass of the newly formed St. Casimir’s Parish at the same location. This new parish is actually the result of the merger of Our Lady of Perpetual Help with St. George Church, formerly of the St. Clair-Superior neighborhood.
Change is bittersweet. At St. George church, parishioners said their final farewells to the church where many went to school, were baptized, married, and from where they buried their loved ones. At Our Lady, parishioners bid farewell to their pastor of 35 years, The Rev. Gediminas Kijauskas, S.J.  The new pastor at the new St. Casimir Church is The Rev. Joseph Bacevice, who served at St. George for the past 29 years.
St. Casimir’s  promises to be a vibrant community parish. The welcome mat is out! Come see what is has to offer - make yourself a part of the new fabric! Masses are as follows: Vigil Saturdays 5:30 p.m., English language mass Sundays 8 a.m. and 12 p.m., Lithuanian language mass Sundays 10 a.m. Daily masses will be at 7:30 a.m.
