Kicking it with Cops in Collinwood

As you may know, the tension between citizens and police officers has been an ongoing issue in neighborhoods across the country and in our own local communities. In consideration of our communities concerns for safety and bridging the gap between citizens and officers, Collinwood & Nottingham Villages Development Corporation was awarded a Neighborhood Solutions grant from Cleveland Neighborhood Progress Inc. for the Kicking it with Cops program.

Kicking it with Cops is a series of activities, officers from the Fifth District, along with community members, will share in the experience of playing outdoor activities, cleaning the neighborhood, breaking bread together over a healthy meal and crafting together. Fostering dialogue and creating networks that didn’t exist before. Engagement through Kicking it with Cops will create not only a better relationship with the community and police, but will ultimately cultivate a safer environment.

To kickoff “Kicking it with Cops”, our first event will be Kickball with Cops. As we were coming up with this idea, we thought connecting with a local school would be a great way to engage the children and the police in the community. This year, we teamed up with Memorial School (410 E. 152 Street Cleveland, Oh 44110) to participate in Kickball with Cops.

These are free, family events, filled fun activities. Please come out and show your support for our local police and children in the neighborhood. Flyers for each event will be posted. If you are interested in participating in any of these events please contact Kristian Hunter (k.huntercnvdc@gmail.com) or (216-383-9772 ext: 204).
