Celebrate Kindergarten!

Constructing a train.

The families of Collinwood with children entering kindergarten next fall came out to O.H. Perry to enjoy fun learning activities around the theme of Thomas the Tank Engine. The children learned about how wheels work, with an activity from the Children’s Museum. Then Margaret Craig, the Learning Zone Director at the Salvation Army, helped them discover the construction of train tracks and read them a Thomas story that each child took home. Artist, Brittainy Quinn led them in an art project where they learned about the shapes seen in a train engine. Meanwhile, the parents had an activity with The Literacy Cooperative about their future readers. Finally, the families sat down together for lunch catered by the Beachland Tavern.

Next month, learn about robots, with “Cosmo and the Robot” on March 19th.
