CMSD unveils new website to better inform community

The Cleveland Metropolitan School District has launched a new website that will be the doorway for students, parents, teachers, employees, clergy, stakeholders, partners and everybody else in the community to explore all the new initiatives that will grow out of The Cleveland Plan.

And just as the transformation plan is cutting-edge, so is the District’s new website.

While the palette of colors remains unchanged, not much else has. The website sports a different name: ClevelandMetroSchools.org. The site comes with a more contemporary look, packed with new features -- all designed to make navigating the website friendlier for users.

The launch is the culmination of a yearlong process. Collaborating with a website developer in Pennsylvania (Schoolwires) and several District partners, CMSD officials went into the redesign last summer with a list of objectives. They included the creation of:

  • A forum for public conversation about the District, its new initiatives and The Cleveland Plan
  • A better tool for internal and external communication that is easier to update
  • A functioning calendar that highlights important dates and important events
  • A better, more complete directory of how to contact schools
  • A better, more complete description of schools in the District, with each school having its own web page and the ability to update its page
  • A better information/communication resource for families and the community

In launching the new website, the District is signaling that it’s transforming itself at a rapid pace and making more information available about Cleveland’s public schools. As CEO Eric S. Gordon states, “Our mission is not only to become a premiere school district, but also a district of premiere schools."
