Collinwood Author Annie Hogsett’s New Mystery Novel Too Lucky to Live is Set in Cleveland

Cleveland Author Annie Hogsett

Cleveland writer, Annie Hogsett’s mystery, Too Lucky to Live – #1 in her Somebody’s Bound to Wind Up Dead series – made its debut on May 2 through Poisoned Pen Press,an independent mystery book publisher and one of the largest publishers of hardcover mysteries in the world.  The book is available at Cleveland bookstores as well as online at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Poisoned Pen Press’s website.

Hogsett, a former advertising copywriter, chose Cleveland as the book’s setting for protagonists Allie Harper and Tom Bennington III, who meet by chance in a crosswalk and are immediately thereafter thrown into a series of perilous circumstances and situations, all because of a winning $550 million lottery ticket.

Cleveland readers will recognize various landmarks like the Cleveland Downtown Marriott, Rock Hall, Lake Shore Boulevard and the Wyndham Cleveland.  Allie, is a part-time librarian at the Cleveland Public Library’s Memorial-Nottingham branch while Tom teaches English literature at Case Western Reserve University.

Too Lucky to Live has received positive reviews in the publishing community including Library Journal, and Booklist.  Additionally, the novel has received kudos from online book review sites and blogs.

Hogsett was born in West Virginia, and attended West Virginia University where she received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English Literature. She and her husband, Bill, moved to Cleveland in 1972 and reside on the shores of Lake Erie where she finds inspiration.  Prior to embarking on her writing career, Hogsett had a career as an advertising copywriter where she honed her writing skills and her dream to become a published novelist.

Several book signings and readings are scheduled in May at various book stores and libraries in Cleveland.
