This Month’s Program Highlights features:

Girls STEM Camp @ Collinwood Branch

“Awe..I don’t want this to end” was a comment made by one of the campers attending the Girls STEM Camp that was held during the week of June 18th.  Girls participated in hands on engineering activities building levers, simple machines and amusement parks rides (ferris wheels) using Ko’nex; online coding to program robots on a board creating a story line around books. Special thanks go out to the National Congress of Black Women and Innovative Thinkers founder, Arliea Marshall for their sponsorship of the program.

July’s Summer Lit League Program Dates:

 

Week Five: Travel to East Asia

Pop art is everywhere in East Asia.  This week we’ll create a fun mural...with sticky notes!

Week Six: Journey through the Middle East

Our journey continues into the a-maze-ing Middle Eastern culture.  Learn how to make your own labyrinth!

Week Seven: Tour South Asia

Stop in the country of Laos to learn about their diverse culture.  Make (and take) fun recycled paper creations.

Week Eight: Sail to Central & South America

Our final stop is in Guatemala where we will learn about worry dolls that can make all of our troubles go away.

Week Nine: Summer Finale Party

End the summer in style by looking at the world we live in, while seeing that so much of the world is already here in CLE (“surprises!”).

Music Heard ‘Round the World

See, Hear, and Create your own unique musical instruments from countries around the world.  Learn about different cultures through the music they play!

Tuesday, July 10th – 4:30pm

Punch & Sew

Learn how to make fun clothing items from recycled fabrics and create your own fashion masterpiece.  Fashion designer Dru Christine will help you turn something drab into FAB!  Punch will be provided.

Wednesday, July 18th – 1:00pm

 

Punch & Paint

Children ages 8 and up will enjoy some punch while they paint a large masterpiece with September Shy of Colorful Mess Studios.

Thursday, July 19th – 1:30pm

 

Know Your Neighborhood Sponsored by Cleveland Public Library’s History & Geography Department

Explore the history of your community by using historic maps and photographs from the Center for Local and Global History.  Children can learn about the past, present, and future of their city.
