VASJ basketball hosts Broadmoor Bobcats

You could feel the love at Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School on Valentine’s Day when the Broadmoor Bobcats traveled to the school to take on the VASJ Vikings basketball team.

When the Bobcats entered the school gym, they received enthusiastic cheers from VASJ students, faculty and staff dressed in green and white to show their support for Broadmoor.

The game has become a much-loved annual event for both schools. The Broadmoor Bobcats are made up of a group of students from the Lake County Board of Developmental Disabilities/Deepwood.

The VASJ Vikings put up a good fight, but the undefeated Bobcats ultimately maintained their winning streak, defeating the Vikings 73-64. VASJ presented the Bobcats with a trophy following the game, and students joined the Bobcats on the court for a post-game group photo.

The basketball game at VASJ is a great example of the mission of the Lake County Board of Developmental Disabilities/Deepwood, which is to empower people with developmental disabilities to engage in activities that enrich their lives and contribute to their community.
